Little does everyone know, SSC North America (formerly Shelby Supercars) has continued production on their world record-breaking hypercar, the Ultimate Aero, for the past few years. With all SSC news coming in about the Tuatara lately, it’s hard to forget the former fastest car in the world.

Now though, SSC says that the production of the Ultimate Aero has come to a close, and what better way to send it off than to release it into the special edition production line.

The 6.9-liter, twin-turbocharged, dual-intercooled, mid-engined V8 will produce a mind-blowing 1,300bhp at 6,800 rpm. All this power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed gearbox with paddle shifters.

Weighing in at only at only 2,800 lbs (1,270 kg), the XT can also produce an immense 1,004 lb-ft or torque, can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 2.65 seconds and will continue on to a top speed of 273 mph (439 km/h).

Founder Jarod Shelby says that this final edition XT will complete the eight-year run of the Ultimate Aero and will be limited to only five models. Shelby also says that each one will contain an owner specific specialty paint scheme that will never be used in SSC production again.

Right now, no figures on price have been released, but we expect buyers to dish out a pretty penny for this mind-blowing machine.
