Toyota Uses Transgender Israeli Model to Show that the New 2013 Auris isn’t for Everyone

|

Something tells us that Toyota's TV spot for the freshly unveiled 2013 Auris compact hatchback won't be hitting the airwaves in a lot of countries outside of its home market of Japan any time soon.

Toyota's commercial for the new generation of the Auris, which itself will make its first public appearance at next month's Paris Motor Show in both regular and Hybrid forms, stars an unnamed transgender fashion model from Israel.

The 19-year old male model with feminine traits poses around the five-door hatchback and at the same time we see a tagline saying, "NOT IN TREND, NOT CASUAL, NOT FOR EVERYONE, NOT AUTHORITY, BUT AURIS".

If you skip through the break, you can find the two commercials along with a behind the scenes video from the filming of the ad.

congrats to Toyota for being bold. America would shit their bigoted asses over this!

Now I understand...! I understand who is the target for all those ugly cars from Toyota!

Alex said... »August 20, 2012

Thank god this won't air anywhere outside Japan; isn't Toyota all family friendly and everything?
Sure as hell don't want my kids seeing this crap

Wonderdallas said... »August 20, 2012

People are way too uptight. If you don't like it, ignore it.

Jess in SD said... »August 20, 2012

Why?  How is being Trans not "Family friendly"?  Hate and prejudice in not family friendly.

Jess in SD said... »August 20, 2012

Nice!  And cute.   It is awful how some people get so upset and say terrible things over a trans person.  That is not cute or nice.  My guess is they must have transgender or gay tendencies and are afraid to admit it.

Conrad said... »August 20, 2012

The model is actually an Australian not Israeli.

mr tooher said... »August 20, 2012

"NOT IN TREND, NEVER WAS, NOT CASUAL, NOT FOR ANYONE, PERHAPS THE BLIND, NOT AUTHORITY, BUT PURE BORING". The model is just, er a model I guess BUT THAT CAR IS HIDEOUS beyond belief. Who would have thought, say ten years ago that Hyundai, Kia etc would be designing cars better than Toyota ? The Japanese have become complacent when it comes to designing cars, there were never many that caught ones eye but there were a few, there WAS at one stage a glimmer of hope - MOVE OVER JAPAN - THE KOREANS HAVE AN EYE FOR DESIGN - Japanese cars in the future will revert to nothing because the people who own the companies and employ playpen designers (and their guide dogs) cant be bothered - TOYOTA YOU ARE THE WEAKEST LINK : GOODBYE !!!!

I don't think this commercial gives a good image of the brand, doesn't represent nothing.

Kudos too Toyota.

And I hope it does get play around the world.  I would hate to think, that Toyo execs think that rest of the world is still in the firm grip or the Dark Ages.   We are not all, Neanderthals, Toyota.

I know Japan is full of sexual deviants in a greater conservative society, but not sure if even Japan would be liberal enough to tolerate this.  France and England would more likely accept this, but what a second, the actor is an Israeli, not.

I am sooo jealous... wish I were 19 again.  Two thumbs! Toyota leading the way yesterday, today and tomorrow.  Congrats on employing a talented model that will create buzz for years. This is what inclusion looks like. Oh and by the way I'm a VW, Audi (transwoman) mechanic... thinking of doing some modeling? Hmmm ((((((Hugs))))) Stefonknee Wolscht

Elle_Kat said... »August 20, 2012

I would like to see it air elsewhere, but I don't think it's in the hands of the toyota execs, it's in the hands of the political powers that ARE still in the dark ages lol.

If I was going to buy this car and saw the ad at dealership I would
definitely WON'T. And one more message for Japan : " Israelis fu**ed America , and if you don't pay attention, they will  fu*k you too, even if it seems they are asking to be fu**ed ,  believe me , they will fu*k you"

Kastor said... »August 20, 2012

And exactly how is this ad innovative, empowering or creative in any way, seeing as so many people seem to be in love with it

Humanist said... »August 20, 2012

I guess you were upset that you were turned on.  People have the right to be who they are; grow up and get over it.

lol9rr5 said... »August 20, 2012

I'm bisexual myself and I find this ad stupid..

lol9rr5 said... »August 20, 2012

We are not against transgender people, more like against stupid-ass ads

T3H_G04T said... »August 20, 2012

Besides the model isn't transgender, just androgynous. Someone felt funky for the unusual combo and is scared to admit it ;).

His comment may have been over the top, but his reaction isnt. Here is an analogy..a vegetarian is given a food product that they assume contains no meat only to find out it has meat(this can be used for Kosher etc) My point is you don't have the right to tell anyone who was upset by this deception to not to be upset.

I'm very impressed with Toyota for using this gorgeous lady in such a forward thinking manner, though the ad makes no sense... :S
I really want to find out what her name is, she's going places!

mr tooher said... »August 21, 2012

are u insane ?

Miranda said... »August 21, 2012

Here's an anology..a vegetarian is shown a food product, through a video on the internet, that they assume contains no meat only to find out it has meat, and then they insult the chef by degendering and dehumanizing them, and then threaten their death. That's a much better anology. I am as much a human being as any of you. Apparently more so than some, since I have some humanity as a nurse, volunteer, parent, and all around wonderful person. If you're a bigot, try to keep it closeted the way you want us to be closeted, because believe it or not, you are now the one who will not be accepted by society. As far as rights, I have a right to tell anyone anything I want to, just like you do. Maybe you could use that right to say something a bit more intelligent and enlightened next time.

Wonderdallas said... »August 21, 2012

I'm sorry but "it must die" is more than over the top. I don't care how upset someone is to find out they were lusting after a man's ass, that is THEIR problem. Grow up already. Not everything in this world is about straight men and their penises. The idea that if a person's experience isn't tailored to fit their narrow vision of what they WANT to see somehow is an invitation to violence.....is so effed up.

Look guys, toyota is already a leader in the world automotive industry, an ad will not affect this brand! I find it quite bold, smart and creative. It represents the new auris, beautiful bold ass and a fierce manly front, or what seems to be by the transgender, a bold ass and a manly (sporty) personality.

Jeff Cupps said... »August 21, 2012

"A nurse, volunteer, parent, and all around wonderful person"  Well aren't you just special, would you like a cookie too while your up on throne?

Wow, I think Toyota are taking this "hybrid" thing waaaay too far. What will they call this aforementioned "unnamed" model--the Priss? Kinda rhymes with Prius.

I remember when Jesse Jackson did a shake down on Toyota:
08/08/2001 - Updated 09:34 PM ETToyota makes diversity deal with Jesse JacksonLOS ANGELES (AP) — The Rev. Jesse Jackson and Toyota Motor Sales USA have reached an agreement that will prevent a boycott of the auto maker over advertisements criticized as racist, Jackson's organization said.Details will be released Thursday morning at a news conference in Chicago, where Jackson's Rainbow/PUSH organization is having its annual meeting. Rainbow/PUSH spokeswoman Keiana Peyton said Toyota executives will be at the news conference with Jackson."Based on our appeals and issues we brought to the table, this is the resolution," she said.Jackson threatened a boycott of the auto maker in May after accusing Toyota of using a racist ad for its RAV4 sport utility vehicle. The ad, printed on free postcards and distributed in nightclubs, shows a close-up of a dark-skinned man's mouth with an image of a gold RAV4 on one tooth. Toyota has since discontinued the ad.Toyota declined to confirm the agreement, but said it would announce details of its diversity strategies Thursday."We're optimistic about tomorrow," said Diana DeJoseph, a spokeswoman for Toyota's U.S. arm, based in Torrance, Calif.Jackson postponed his call for a boycott in June after the giant automaker said it was in discussions with a black advertising firm and retained a consultant to make the company more diverse. So, has Chaz Bono joined the Godfather of shake downs?

buy this car and you're in for an unwanted surprise.
that's what the ad says to me.

transgender in the broad sense simply means on who does not self identify (in terms of gender identity) with the gender they were born with, including not identifying with either gender.  *the more you know***- anyway don't take my word for  it, google it yourself

When I first saw this, I was thinking "Okay, a fashion model walking towards the vehicle, 'she' takes off her coat...oh she's not wearing anything on top! 0:" and BAM!- The model turns towards the viewer an reveal that 'she' is actually a 'HE'!

Being used to the fascinating world of Japan, I think they got the correct reaction from me. So I think this is a surprising and cool commercial! I would like to know this person's name and become a fan! :3 Also I can't get that song out of my head. I agree with some of the comments also, with "If they showed this in America, shit will go down and yadda yadda~" and that's why this commercial was made for the crazy, fascinating world of Japan! xD (btw I'm planning on moving there anyway...hahaha)
