Watch a Driver Bail Out of a Van Just Before it Crashes

|

Add this to our growing list of strange and unexplainable happenings taking place on Russian roads.

The dashboard footage shows a light commercial van (looks like the JDM Mazda Bongo/Nissan Vanette of the mid-1990s) squiggling across the road when all of a sudden the passenger door opens and a man falls to the ground, with the vehicle then continuing on its own and crashing into the car.

If you take a close look at the clip the moment the accident happens, you will see that nobody else was in the van, which supports the poster's claim that he was indeed the driver.

Now, how did the man end up on the passenger side of the vehicle and fall out is up for speculation, though one explanation could be that he may have bent over to looking for something.

I've read that some have motion activated cameras. Considering SD cards are so cheap these days if you're recording 480p or even 720p you can easily get hours and hours of film. Unless you're talking about battery life then.... maybe they're connected to a car charger or again motion activated to save battery life?

It's RHD, look at the side of wiper arm and the rear mirror angle.
That's why this guy jumped out of the right door. I guess he watched too much action movies and he wants to be Jason Bourne.

Any small camera with a suction cup or windscreen mount will do. From the general purpose Kodak ZX1 to cheap Prestigio RoadRunners, Vosonics, Aipteks to more expensive Blackvues or even action cameras like GoPro or Contour. A 8-16GB SD card will last you for hours and some cameras will even overwrite old recordings to keep on going.

It is definitely a RHD you can tell from the wipers.

In Russia airbag throws you out of the vehicle seconds before accident.

It looks like he meant to jump out while the van was towards the shoulder but I'm wondering if, as he was getting ready to bail out that he accidentally hit the steering wheel and that made the van  turn into oncoming traffic?  Either way the guy ain't too bright.  Tough... but not too bright.

Hi. The cameras we buy in China, and through ebay and
aliexspress. The cheapest cost from 10$, called the md 80, but they
do not have auto-and cyclic recording, they do not write from an
external power supply.
I tried many cameras. Now I have, in three
cars, the camera is f900hd. This is a fake Chinese bought for $ 50,
then the original DOD cost $ 300, now is not less than 200 (Of course
the recording quality of the original 2-fold better. There's 12
megapixels honest, and in forging 5M + interpolation.). SD-card,
menus in 5 languages with a normal tranlate, rotation display
(you need that would show the video road police, if they extort money
for the violation, which you did not commit), rotation lens, cyclic
record (for memory card, the old files overwritten by new ones), the
recording starts automatically at power up, and stops 20 seconds
after a power failure. And, as noted above is true, the camera is
permanently connected to the car outlet, SDHC Memory Card for 32GB if
I remember correctly, this volume is sufficient for 14 hours of video
recording.
The recording quality suits me. I do not like just what
the camera is large, and sometimes interferes with the review through
the windshield. Now the Chinese are doing a lot of good cameras,
large or small with displays that are mounted in the rear view mirror
and did not interfere with the review, but now there is quite
affordable camera with two lenses, one takes the road in front, the
other takes the driver and the car interior and a little road behind
. enough to find the appropriate model for ebay, and then enter her
name into YouTube, there are examples and overview videos and the
quality of shooting.
