Fiat’s boxy Doblo Cargo van is welcoming a new addition to its range in Britain in the form of the XL model, which follows the Doblo Work Up launched last year.

The new Doblo XL is based on the long wheelbase version adding a higher roof to the mix for a total load volume of 5.0 m3 and a payload of 1,000kg or 2,205 lbs.

According to the Italian automaker, the XL version sits between the Purpose Built Van and Small Panel Van segments, pointing out that it believes it will likely attract customers from the latter as it offers “the same load capacity and payload (1 Ton) but at a lower price“.

The Doblo XL Cargo can be had with a choice of three Euro 5 turbodiesel engines including the 1.6 MultiJet 105 hp, 1.6 MultiJet 90hp MTA and 2.0 MultiJet 135hp.

The tall van is available to order now with UK pricing set at £15,765.00 (basic) for the Doblo XL Cargo Base 1.6 MultiJet 16v Diesel 105, rising to £19,045.00 (basic) for the Doblo XL Combi SX M12.0 MultiJet 16v Diesel.

We’ll remind you that Chrysler has already confirmed that the Doblo series will go on sale in the United States and Canada under the Ram nameplate starting from early 2013.
