Ford Grafts an Aston Martin-esque Front Grille to 2013 Fiesta Facelift

|

With several European carmakers having presented new offerings in the supermini segment such as the Renault Clio and the Peugeot 208, Ford decided it was time for a styling refresh for its sixth generation Fiesta subcompact that was introduced in 2008 (North American sales started in 2010).

Slated to debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show later this month, the revamped Fiesta in European guise adopts Ford's new Aston Martin-like grille that has trickled down from cars like the C-MAX Hybrid and the new Fusion / Mondeo.

The new face of the 2013 Fiesta was previewed by the new flagship Fiesta ST that sports a 178hp (180PS) 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine, though instead of the honeycomb insert the regular model features five chrome slats.

There's also a re-sculptured bonnet, a new front bumper design, and possibly new LED daytime running lights housed in the headlamps. From these pictures, it is evident that there are new graphics for the tail lamps.

As for the interior, there seem to be some minor changes such as the relocated buttons for the electric windows and exterior mirrors on the driver's door.

It is very likely that Ford will pass on these cosmetic enhancements to the North American Fiesta for the 2014 model year.

We don’t have any official details on the car yet, so it remains unknown if Ford has made any upgrades under the skin. More to come, so stay tuned.

I love how everyone praises Ford for grotesque copying of Aston Martin's grille. Clearly, everybody else should copy something from Ferrari, McLaren, Bugatti, etc. etc. to be successful.

If only they focused more on reliability...

Ford did own Aston Martin and actually saved it from being scrapped.  Aston still uses a lot of Ford technology (along with Volvo too tech also) in their cars.

I'm sure Ford can pull some of their agreements if Aston gets a little litigious.

Looks as hideous as the Focus ST.

An already hideous looking car rendered hideouer by the flagrant aping of Aston. If I were Aston I'd be furious- reminds me of the Apple/Samsung battle.  Is it true aston threatened action?

we don't use any ford parts in Astons these days. Pity ford butchered the grille!

I'm guessing you've never owned a ford. Weve owned more than 10 fords already..and never had better luck with anything else. Only thing that's been as great was the Chevy 5.7's. Some of the worlds fastest supercars such as konigsegg use ford engines to build off of because they are already so intelligently balanced.
