The new ForStars Concept will be Smart’s main attraction at the upcoming Paris Auto Show at the end of the month.

According to the company while instantly recognizable as a Smart, the ForStars, previews the design language of the next generation ForTwo while also hinting at possible new addition to the range.

Some notable styling elements include the design of the front and rear lights, which Smart says, “seem to push outwards like arrows – like drips on the cockpit window of an airplane as it takes off”.

Other design highlights are the “eyebrows” above the headlamps that give them a U-shape, the convex glass coupe roof above the passengers’ heads that joins with the cargo door glass cover, the shiny black trim on the sideskirts and the meaty 245/35 ZR21 tires.

The bonnet-mounted projector is a nice feature indeed, though we remain skeptic if it will make it into any production version…

The two-seater model, which is described as a SUC (sports utility coupé), is 3,550 mm long, 1,710 mm wide and 1,505 mm high (139.8 / 67.3 / 59.2 inches ), retaining the compact dimensions that characterize the firm’s models.

Compared to the current ForTwo, though, its 2,470 mm (97.2-inch) wheelbase is stretched by 603 mm (23.7 inches) and its tracks have been widened by 193 and 90 mm (7.6 and 3.5 inches) at the front and rear end respectively, measuring 1,475 mm (58.1 inches) at both ends.

The interior is quite futuristic as befits a concept car. It sports a pearl white color with parts finished in brushed aluminum and “alubeam rouge” accents.

The powertrain of the ForStars has been “borrowed” from the production ForTwo Brabus EV. It features a 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery ForStars that powers a magneto-electric motor positioned on the rear axle.

Its output has been increased to 60 kW (80 HP) and maximum torque is 135 Nm (99.5 lb-ft), which Smart says is more than enough for quick city driving and overtaking while offering a top speed in excess of 130 km/h (80 mph).
