The Fiat 500 range may be growing up in size and maturing in character with the new 500L minivan, but the Italian company has given the first commercial for the small MPV a very youthful feel.

Set to air in Europe on September 16, the TV spot reveals the five-door 500L through the eyes of a child and with the help of picturesque special effects.

The young boy sitting at the back of the new 500L magically enlarges everything he sees outside the window by moving his fingers to form the letter “L”, just like when using a touchscreen on a phone or a tablet.

The new 500L will begin reaching European showrooms at the end of September with sales to start in October. The practical sub-compact model is also scheduled for a North American debut sometime next year.
