Some of you have been asking us about one of the many minivans and commercial vans that was presented today at Ford's "Go Further" brand event in Amsterdam, and more specifically, the silver colored small minivan with the "Transit Courier" backdrop.
Before we get to the details, allow us to explain that Ford names its professional vans Transit and the people-carrier or passenger versions of those models Tourneo.
The vehicle in question is the "Courier", and it is seen here in passenger-minivan form named "Tourneo Courier". The reason why there's a "Transit Courier" logo at the back is because the Blue Oval will also launch a commercial version (no seats and rear windows) of the van.
According to the automaker, the new Courier is based on Ford’s Global B platform (Fiesta, B-MAX) and is planned for sale in 2014.
"This vehicle will make its debut in the ‘mini cargo’ segment, cargo being either goods or people The segment has only evolved in recent years and we expect it to grow rapidly in the coming years," said Barb Samardzich, vice president of Product Development for Ford of Europe during the presentation.
"Many customers are looking for an affordable entry level van, a good all round performer, and we’re hoping we can invite them into the Ford CV family with this vehicle. This is just a sneak preview of what’s coming in the future. Tourneo Courier is an all-new small people mover with contemporary style. We plan a Transit version of this body style to be on the cutting edge of the segment….the Transit Courier," she added.
Ford did not release any other information on the Courier, but we'll keep you updated as soon as we find out more.
