Within the next couple of weeks - if not days, Mercedes-Benz will begin European deliveries of the spanking-new A-Class compact hatchback.
The premium model has already racked up more than 40,000 orders in Europe alone and as a result, Mercedes-Benz turned to Valmet Automotive, which it hired to build an additional 100,000 units or so from 2013 through 2016 to cover the demand.
Given that the regular A-Class has already been presented, we were somewhat surprised to see that CarScoop reader Radek V. spotted a heavily camouflaged prototype of the VW Golf-sized model earlier today on the picturesque streets of the Czech Republic's capital city of Prague.
Our first thought was that Mercedes-Benz could be trying out the upcoming A45 AMG high-performance variant, but that impression quickly went away after seeing the regular wheels fitted on the test car.
If you have any ideas what this model is and why Mercedes-Benz was driving it in Prague, head over to the comments section to share your thoughts with us.
'Děkuji' Radek V. for the spy shots!

Hi guys, Mercedes has development company (MBTech) in Pilsen, close to Prague. So there are many camouflaged models of M-B around in Pilsen and Prague. Even the car was already introduced, those prototypes are still running. It was the same with the new ML.
Maybe a electric model powered by Tesla?
Yeah... and the same even with new CLS Shooting Brake or facelifted GLK.
They have development facility in Prague as well. Nothing new found here as long as they start asses the prototype wih disguise it takes several houndred of kilometers to ride. So they are finishing assesing that particular car. (losing disguise changes entry parameters, simply as that).
10best reasons I could think of
1. probably on a beer run-- 2. testing it to see if it can survive head-to-head combat with a tram... 3. getting the local pumped on buying a new car
4. establishing low image profile for local mafia who don't want lambos, porsches, maseratis, bentleys or bmv and don't have dough for a bugatti
5. trying to distract internet traffic from the next iPod hype/hack into looking at black cars
6. testing the rubber on tires by braking for tourist guides holding umbrellas
7. testing manueverability on narrow streets to show video to stripclub owners why the LongTom is not only ugly but incredibly stupid car for Prague.
8. doesn't come equipped with wings and escape the tourists
9. didn't want to use a Segway
10. driver lives in Prague-geez.
