2013 Avalon Sedans Tuned by Toyota, TRD and DUB Magazine for SEMA Show

|

Toyota seems pretty psyched up about its new and more youthfully designed 2013 Avalon full-size sedan.

While it prepares for the car's North American launch, the Japanese automaker thought it would be a good idea to promote the new Avalon and the customization opportunities it offers at next week's SEMA aftermarket show in Las Vegas with the unveiling of three different project models.

"The new Avalon is an attractive target for performance enhancement," said Toyota Engagement Marketing and Motorsports National Manager Keith Dahl. "Tuners always want to get their hands on a great new design with strong enthusiast appeal."

The first model is the 2013 Avalon TRD Edition developed by the brand's in-house performance arm, Toyota Racing Development (TRD).

The car is finished in a burgundy shade and features a color-keyed grille and tinted taillights with clear lenses. Dual exhaust with polished mufflers and custom tips along with new 19-inch rims wrapped in 225/40R19 Michelin rubber complete the look.

Inside, the TRD Edition Avalon boasts gradient-design perforated leather seating with red accent piping and stitching, while the custom instrument and door panels are also leather covered with red stitching. A JBL GreenEdgeTM surround-sound system with 15 speakers and two trunk-mounted 500W amplifiers makes sure that passengers get their music fix.

Under the hood, TRD bolted on a supercharger system to the Avalon's regular 3.5-liter V6 engine, without, however, announcing any performance numbers. The car's handling is said to be improved with a suspension package and a Big Brake kit sporting six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers on large cross-drilled spiral-vane rotors.

Next up is the Toyota-prepped 2013 SEMA Avalon HV Edition based on the hybrid variant. The exterior of the car sports a bright white primary and electric blue accent colors, hybrid-blue headlights, tail- lights and turn signals, plus a color-keyed custom grille and 19-inch rims in 225/40R19 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

The bright white and blue theme continues in the interior and the leather surfaces used throughout, while a multi-color hybrid instrument panel, a rear console interior lights and a 15-speaker JBL GreenEdgeTM surround-sound audio system are also featured.

The HV borrows the suspension and brake package featured on the TRD Avalon.

The third variation of the Avalon was created in partnership with DUB Magazine. The more sinister looking member of the three Avalons gets a full black paint treatment along with an aero package, huge 22-inch TIS wheels in a matte black finish wrapped in ultra-low-profile Pirelli tires, and a custom mesh grille with a chrome surround up front.

Like the exterior, black is used almost everywhere in the re-upholstered interior that sports suede accents on the console, door panels and headliner, with the seats receiving "plush" diamond-pattern suede inserts.

Other modifications include a lowering kit for the suspension and a higher-end audio system from JBL.

I swear that DUB edition is by far the best from this 3 cars!

They are excited about this car? that thing is damned ugly and awkward...and the DUB looks like Al Jolson in black face. weird.

I like the DUB version the most. Not too sure about the chrome lipstick though....

The dub is the best balanced and has the nicest wheels, but it is a rather awkward shape to begin with and doesn't really work very well. The white isn't bad either, but I'd want the engine setup from the TRD
