Official Photos of All-New 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback and Sedan Allegedly Leaked

|

If we are to believe a report from UK magazine Autoexpress, this is what the next generations of the Mazda3 four-door sedan and five-door hatchback may look like when the compact model is presented in the summer of 2013.

Before we move onto the details, here's little bit of background on how the images came to be and what Mazda had to say.

The publication claims it received the pictures in an unmarked envelope and then asked Mazda UK about them. A company spokesperson said that they are "digital renderings" made to display how the new Kodo design language could be applied on the next "3", rather than a real car.

What this means, is that these pictures could be of an early or a late prototype, but most likely, not the final production model.

Either way, the hatchback and sedan versions of the 2014 Mazda3 that are pictured in these scanned renderings are heavily influenced by the design of both the new Mazda6 and the CX-5, which is a good thing if you like cars with a strong styling personality.

Design aside; the new "3" will be the next Mazda model to benefit from a full suite of SKYACTIV technologies, which should translate to a lighter platform and body, and more fuel-efficient gasoline and diesel engines.

AutoExpress is like the National Enquirer version of motoring magazines in the UK

Wow what a car !! Looks like a concept so far but if the final 3 hatch looks like this I may be interested :)

Like how they are building their "theme" among the models. A bit Nissanish at the back of the hatch model, but I like the overall styling of the models. It's different.

Looking good Mazda

Very, very interesting, although I do hope the rear window pane is less swoopy on the production model

Love the look of the design. However you must realize that this is probably one of many different prototypes. The final design could look totally different by the time it goes into production.

Would be good if they twin it with Alfa for next gen Giulietta. Nice looking car.

Same here - at least in profile.  It might be one of those things you have to see in person...

Let's hope they'll put as much efforts on the cabin too

My next car.

autoexpress (the source of this photo) have a history of making up or posting fake pre production renderings. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM one bit.

even the simplest of people can tell these are just photoshopped images. there are many tells to this fact, ones i dont have the time to spell out. good interpretation though.

The kodo design looks much better in a smaller body. I wish the real look would be closer to this..

Please look like this! Please!

Beautiful, especially after nice 1. generation and ugly 2nd. one

A little too conceptual looking still. I doubt it will look like this when all is said and done. That front end looks too exotic for a sporty economy car.

I like the new design language mazda is going with

Sad things is the real version won't look anything like this, at least in the US.

This car wouldn't pass federal bumper standards. Designers keep doing this, lately. They are so hyped about the trend towards larger grille openings that they keep teasing us with front end design that are basically impossible to bring to market.

Grrr

Looks like a concept - NICE!

You do realize that the bumper is BEHIND the grill, right?

Automakers can make as garrash and as wild a grill as they like, provided the bumper and the deformable fascia support plastic are beind it.

"You do realize that the bumper is BEHIND the grill, right?"No. Behind the grille, is the radiator (and behind it, is the engine). The bumper, is BELOW the grille. The way you describe the front of a motor vehicle, what you drive must be totally hideous...

Simply wow, I saw the picture of the sedan version and fell in love. If the sedan will come out looking like that it won't be hard for me to choose the next car to drive.

Too bad Honda or Toyota can't make a good looking car, if their life depended on it.

WormBook said... »January 07, 2013

CX-3 ??

Body parts should be a litter bit changed due to the cost of production.
