Rare Bugatti EB110 SS Burns Out its Very, Very Expensive Tires

|

A few years before the almighty Volkswagen Group came into the picture, the Bugatti brand was brought back to life after nearly four decades of hibernation by Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli who acquired the rights to the name in 1987.

Four years later, Bugatti presented its first modern day car, the EB110 powered by a 60-valve, quad-turbocharged V12 with 553hp (561PS) turning all four wheels through a six-speed stick shift.

In 1992, the Molsheim, France-based company added a second variant to the EB110's range named the SS for SuperSport, which was lighter and even more powerful than the original car with the V12 tuned to deliver 603hp (611PS) for a top speed of 348 km/h (216 mph) and 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in 3.2 seconds.

And it is this rare gem, of which only around 30 are believed to have been built, that is featured in a short video with a lot of tire smoke and which you can watch right after the break.

Loved the EB110 when I first saw it years ago in an issue of Pop Mechanics.  That was an unGodly amount of horsepower back then.  Still plenty of ponies by today's standards.

This wasn't the prettiest of cars but i respect it immensily for the shier lunacy of the numbers. And I have to admit that if it wasn't for this perhaps the Veyron never would have existed. So hurray for the EB110.

Some good stuff there. I didn't know it had 12 individual throttle butterflies or power actuated (hydraulic?) doors.

Now you know why people pay money for professional TV crew.

And you end up with a "hyper edited bombardment" that looks like it came from Spike.

TV is dead. Google Charlie Brooker, he wrote it's obit.

Yes he wrote the obit before totally selling out to Chan 4 and 10 O'clock Live... the lure of money always reveals the truth !

Judging by the title, I thought it would be just a mindless burnout, but this video actually shows the car in action. Nice to see that these rare gems are used, not just stored away in somebody's bunker/vault/garage.

Still one of my all-time favorite cars along with the Jaguar XJ220. Those power and performance numbers are just being caught up to in the last couple of years. Amazing that they did so much with such a small company and low production numbers 20 years ago!. Long live the Bugatti EB110!

Just think bugatti made/designed this car in the 80/90's and look at the power. If bugatti didn't go bust and stayed independent we would of had the veyron in 1995. Can u just imagine the type of car we would have today it would probably have 3000hp and a 500mph top speed. But just some suggestions to the vw group since they own and have access to part bins from the best luxury brands on earth the veyron's successor should be powered by 2 bentley mulsaane engines strapped together. The interior designed by bentley, the electronics and quattro awd system to handle all that power from audi. The suspension tuning and handling by porsche and let lambo design the exterior. Just a suggestion vw group. Your welcome.

"Hot Boy", You are truly delusional. Your comment bares no resemblance to anything close to possible, let alone feasible, meaningful or intelligent in any way, shape or angle.
3000hp and 500mph? Were you even capable of grasping basic physical, economic and social concepts, you'd be able to deduct that anything over 1500hp and 280mph is simply not possible for a road-legal car with a piston engine, rubber tyres and emission regulations in this day and age. Furthermore, 100+ hp/ltr. have been common in race tuned engine for more than half a century before you were born, let alone the 80's/90's.Also, 2 Mulsanne engines? These V8s have been both conceived and re-engineered for torque and fluidity, not for high revving, extreme horsepower applications. There are a number of engines within VAG that would be tens of times more suitable for such applications. And Bentley interior? VAG has bent Bentley's tradition to achieve seemingly old school interior designs with modern ergonomics and quality, and has managed to do so only with the premise of the cars being enormous, over-luxurious and heavy. How does this fit a hypercar? On the quattro system: There have been just a handful of original quattro systems that have made any impact whatsoever. The marketing guys have you believing that the quattro system of an A3,4,5 or whatever has any rally or racing heritage. It does not! They are generic, understeering off-the shelf outsourced solutions. Only the R8 can actually drift and behave like a true supercar, and it's a rare exception which doesn't make for a good statistic.I hope you snap out of your media-induced stereotype-based alternate reality and come back down to Earth where cars are products of real economic superpowers that don't do anything unless there is a noticeable profit, and where cars are machines designed by actual engineers who know more about a single component or process than the commualtive knowledge of your entire life.

Look Yavor I don't know what screwed up third world country your from or what rock you've been in a coma under but everything that I mentioned in my last comment is possible. Yea I admit I went a little to far with hp figures and top speed. But if VW wanted too they can find and invest the money in any tire manufacturer on the rubber technology to obtain a higher speed. Second of all I know the vw group has a choice when it comes to engines everything I mentioned in my last comment are just suggestions so don't be such an asshole ok. Third of all I personally think the mulsanne engines are badass and guess what if they were originally designed for torque and fluidity I'm pretty sure vw can re-engineer them for high revving and high hp, but if you were a real engineer and not just a little smart ass you would know that. Fourth of all you say bentley interiors only belong in big and heavy vehicles . Well genius if you didn't know the veyron is a big and heavy vehicle. Fifth of all they could make a custom quattro setup for this vehicle to handle all that power. And last but not least hear's a fact for you vw doesn't actually make a profit on the veyron this is just a halo/hypercar, basically vw is just showing everybody what it's capable of doing and telling all other manufacturers not to f**k with us. But you know what Yavor Trassiev I'm gonna take your advice and come back down to earth so we can talk about these real economic superpowers and just by looking at your name your probably from one of those f**ked up eastern europe countries when I actually live here in an actual ultimate superpower U.S.A. So before before your power goes out from a rolling black out. Im gonna say goodnite or good morning or whatever time it is over there. Dueces.

Artioli's Bugatti was located in Italy, Campogaliano. Only later with VW it was moved back to the roots in Molsheim. Btw. the Italian factory is still easy to see from the highway.
