For the most part, the next Subaru Forester is a secret no more after the crossover model's details leaked through a Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) brochure and the car itself was photographed at what we assume to be the brand's factory parking lot in Japan.
But it's not over just yet, as the new Forester, which will likely be sold as a 2014 model in North America, has been spotted again in its home market on three different occasions, providing us a fresh look on the car.
Now, you may have noticed that these three Foresters (two examples in white and the other in silver), look slightly different from the one featured in the opening image of our previous article posted earlier this month.
That's because it was the base JDM Forester with the naturally aspirated, 146Hp (148PS) 2.0-liter flat-four, while these ones are the Forester XT, which get a 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged boxer unit rated at 276Hp (280PS), connected exclusively to a CVT.
The turbocharged model sports a different front bumper with an extended black panel in the center and vertical air vents on both corners, as well as redesigned fog lamp housings.
Other visible upgrades include a larger roof spoiler, side skirt trims and 18-inch wheels wrapped in 225/55 R18 tires.
We still do not know if Subaru will offer the turbocharged XT in other regions.
The new Forester is expected to make its debut in Japan next month, with more countries to follow shortly after, at which point, we will know more about the available powertrains.

It's hard not to like Subaru as a company. That bit different and not caring what the current trends are.
Having almost purchased the previous UK model.. if only the passenger front seat had had a riser device for the vertically challenged wife to see over the diesel air bonnet bulge.. I love these cars and yes I know it's a soft roader but it's the best soft roader I've seen off road. Good luck Skubes... we will take another look...
Don't matter whether they follow trends or not - and they do btw, note the single corporate grill design making its way onto their cars - they're still butt ugly cars
Its probably a good car, but it a whole new kind of ugly.
UGH!!! PLEASE... Put the camo back on!
This is hardly news, they've already started importing them into Australia, should be in showrooms in the next few weeks
I'll clarify that I meant from an engineering point of view.
Factory turbo: GOOD! CVT Transmission: BAD! Should come with a 5 spd option. Yet again Subaru has lost more of it's fun factor.
I'm a subaru fan and I was able to get past the "odd" styling on my 2010 Outback because it is a really good car. However, this new FOrester is really bad. I predict an emergency redesign by 2015.
It is somewhat fugly from the front but I think white is a bad color to judge with the contrasts. Black or dark colors would probably look better. Miss the scoop though. As far as performance fun factor goes, remember it;s a forester not a impreza.
Subaru kills their aggressive look, what I love, by removing the scoop. Great but won't exchange my S-Edition.
