Suzuki to Bring New Pocket-Rocket Swift Sport Concept to the Sydney Motor Show

|

Even though Suzuki has already presented a spicy concept of the Swift Sport at the 2011 Geneva Salon, as well as the toned-down, final production model powered by a 1.6-liter petrol engine delivering 134hp (100kW / 136PS), the Japanese marque has prepared another study for the 2012 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney next week (October 19 to 28).

Suzuki tells us that the Swift Sport is a one-off concept designed by the brand's chief engineer Naoyuki Takeuchi.

The car is based on the five-door production Swift Sport featuring a racier body kit comprising a prominent front spoiler, side skirts, a large rear roof wing and a rear diffuser with chrome accents, together with two-tone OZ wheels shod in very low profile performance tires, plus new LED lights up front.

From the pictures provided by Suzuki, we can see that the Japanese supermini also gets a bigger brake kit and a pair of bucket seats for the front passengers.

Suzuki didn't say if it made any other changes to the Swift Sport and in particular, the car's 1.6-liter engine.

I give Suzuki credit for having the balls to stay in the race. Odd duck in the pond to be sure, but they're still swimming around nipping at the heals of other brands. Good for Suzuki!
