The New Faces of CarScoop's 2015 Ford Mustang, Allegedly Tweaked to Resemble the Real Thing

|

Not too long ago, CarScoop's design guru Josh Byrnes gazed into his "crystal ball", as he said, to see what the future holds for the next generation of the Ford Mustang by offering his own interpretation of the pony car's styling.

Josh's speculative take blended the shape and styling elements of the retro-penned fifth generation model (both the original and the facelifted versions) with hints from Ford's modern design language as displayed in cars like the production Taurus and the conceptual Evos.

Several sites and forums quickly picked up the rendering with readers touching up our original design (we can assure you, none of them asked us), some of whom lightly modded the rendering with new elements like the headlamps based on what they heard from owners who rated the next Mustang at a recent consumer clinic.

Two of the re-designs made it on a recent article on Jalopnik, with the red-colored example said to resemble what owners saw at the clinic.

The red Mustang was touched up by a Jalopnik reader nicknamed "Slacks" who simply changed the color, the pony logo and the headlamps of Josh's original design...forgetting the appropriate credits, though, Jalopnik editor Raphael Orlove did mention it in his post.

Will it look anything like this? We can’t answer that – not yet, at least.

But if you want to catch a very precise glimpse of the 2015MY Mustang, with which Ford will celebrate the model's 50th anniversary and for the first time, go global, possibly offering four-cylinder turbocharged engines, keep checking back on CarScoop over the next few days because we just may have something quite interesting coming our way…

Man I hope not. That red Mustang is NOT an attractive proposition. Honestly, I'm not a fan of any of them. The blue original has an interesting refresh of the nose, but the rest just looks like a slightly more bulbous version of the current car as if reinterpreted by Ralph Gilles of Dodge/Chrysler/SRT. The gray one is too close to the Evos concept, but is probably the least objectionable to me. The worst part about the current car is the clunky, carryover window graphic from the 2005 Mustang, and none of these do enough to address that issue.

blue is my fav.

While I like the blue headlights best, the green one looks to have the best aerodynamic design for airflow.

The blue is definitely the most aesthetically pleasing of the bunch and I wonder just how much light would escape from the slit-eyed headlights.Still, it would be a restyler's dream especially with the new hawkeye grilles they've come up with of late.

Dodge is changing the Challenger into the Cuda for 2015.
Wonder what Ford plans to do about that.

The Mustang will look NOTHING like this. Whoever made these drawing is lying or better be.. this looks like another refresh. Ford wouldn't do that and it contradicts what Ford said about not wanting it to be Retro again.

these all look like more of the same retrostang to me.  i thought they said they were going in a new direction with the body.  i know that would make me consider buying american again, would love to start seeing these cars without the huge curb weight too.  ford needs to do something if they ever hope to turn the eyes of the younger (but aging) generation spending their time with imports.

Indeed. All of the mid-life-crisis dudes yearning for this bit of nostalgia either already have one or are no longer allowed to drive, so Ford really needs to ditch this retro crap.

Had a current gen one as a rental... my god, what garbage. It was like riding in a bathtub with a roof an inch over my head. And the interior was so unbelievably retro-cheesy.

We offers the service of Bathtub Refinishing San Diego, sinks and wall tiles with a polyester resin that can change the color, revitalize the surfaces it is applied to, and take an old tub, sink or wall and dramatically enhance its appearance. This renewal is performed with all fixtures remaining in place.

Having been around a long time and having seen so many styles of the Mustang. I can say the blue and the red are the best looking designs of any I have seen or have had the pleasure to own. When people keep talking about the Camaro and the Challenger and saying they aren't "retro" that is far from the case. Look back at some of the old designs of these cars and open your eyes to the fact that the 21 century versions of these cars do indeed have a retro flair so why can't the Mustang remain connected to it's very storied past? In my opinion the Mustang has to be modern but not revolutionary. It can be "evolutionary" and survive just fine. I don't want an Aston-Mustanguar, I want a Mustang and I want it to look like it!

In my view, Car and Driver's November 2012 rendering is by FAR the best looking one...it's got sexy curves, sexy hips, and a lovely low hood line. If Ford can pull THAT off for a reasonable price, they'll have a insanely huge hit. As for the other designs...err, no. They have all the excitement & appeal of a dentist office.
