The second recall we’ve heard this week from General Motors after the announcement on the Cadillac XTS concerns certain 2012 model year Buick Verano, Chevrolet Cruze, and Chevrolet Sonic vehicles for airbag troubles.

In a notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, the Detroit brand said that 2,949 vehicles are potentially affected.

The problem stems from a small bar positioned inside the dual-stage driver’s air-bag module that may short-circuit the system in the event of a crash and cause it not to deploy.

General Motors said in a statement that it plans to notify owners of the affected models, and dealers will replace the steering wheel airbag coil, free of charge. The automaker stated, however, that it has not yet released a notification schedule for the recall.
