First Look at 2013 Honda Civic Sedan's Interior and Si Sports Edition

|

It's only a matter of hours before Honda gives us a talk- and a walk-around the refreshed 2013 Civic at its scheduled press conference at the Los Angeles Motor Show, but in the meantime, here are some new pictures of the compact saloon.

To be more specific, what we have here are the first photos of the car's updated interior and the exterior of the sportier Civic Si edition, which follow an earlier pair of images showing the mid-level EX-L grade.

Honda has taken a lot of flak from the press for the current generation Civic's interior. Consumer Reports, for example, had said that the cabin "feels cheap" and is "a letdown from previous Civics".

From this image, we see that Honda has made some changes to the design of the dashboard, which now features a new center section with different air vents, new controls for the air conditioning system and at least in this grade, more upscale trim with silver finishes and leather padding on the passenger side and the upper parts of the door panels.

The lower part of the center console has also been redesigned.

Moving on to the red colored Civic Si sedan, along with the redesigned front and rear ends that are common throughout the range, the sportiest version of the series gains a larger boot wing, a new rear diffuser with a honeycomb insert in the middle, and newly styled alloy wheels.

For the rest of the details, we'll have to wait until later in the afternoon.

WOW... it looked mega-boring, but now it is great... One of the best looking small sedans... Hope we will get this in Europe....(but the interior still looks weird...) :)

Not seeing any difference other than the shape of the vents. Still awful dash.

It's still the best selling vehicle in its class. It is consistently a leader in resale value and reliability. The other side of the coin is this, go drive a 100k mile Honda and the same in a mazda, hyundai, chev,or Toyota. The Honda is tight like it just rrolled off the line and the others feel like a 100k mile car. I currently drive an 03 accord with 95k on it. Shifts smooth and handles like new. Honda may not wow every single customer out there with the hyundai flashy design but you get what you pay for and that is a reliable, long lasting, valuable and good performing car that your kids will drive one day if you want. If you are going to keep it buy a Honda, if you are going to lease it abdominal return it in 2 years buy something else.

Yeah, what I expected. A bit of chrome here and there and some updated lighting. What will they do for the next update if they follow their four-year cycle plan?

Other than the black paint to the interior sections, the Si wheels are the same as the last year's.

Who else wants to see this slammed even worse than the previous car?

How is it Honda can produce such boring and ugly cars while Ford, Kia, Hyundai and even Dodge are putting out such fantastic designs??

I remember when Civic's looked nice in the 90s and early 2000s.

I think its a move forward. I am looking to buy a car. I checked out the 2012 civic SI and was less than impressed with the interior quality. The plastic felt hard and cheap and the dash was badly put together. A panel near the windshield was actually loose and was sorta flapping about as I took it out for a test drive. If I am paying about 25k, I dont want my dash to be cut out of a wheelie bin and put together by newly recruited apes.

The new one looks nicer and from the videos online it seems made with better materials. Thats what the 2012 model needed. The powertrain on the 2012 had that strange rev-hang. If they fixed that then they have a pretty good car in their hand.
