It shouldn’t take long before Mercedes-Benz comes out with an official announcement on the new SLS AMG Black Series, but for the time being and for whatever reasons, die Deutschen have conceded their press department responsibilities to British car magazine Autocar, which released the first pictures and info on the car – evidently, on the behalf of Daimler…

The most hardcore iteration of the SLS AMG with the Black Series moniker is said to borrow bits and pieces from the race-spec GT3 model including parts for the heavily tweaked 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 622hp (631PS) at 7,400rpm, 39hp more than the 2013 SLS AMG (583hp / 591PS).

On the other hand, the Black Series’ V8 delivers 11 lb-ft less torque at 468lb ft arriving at 5,500rpm. It is said to complete the 0-100km/h (62mph) in 3.6 seconds and top out at 315km/h (196mph), making it 0.1 seconds faster in the sprint but 1mph or 2km/h slower in terms of maximum speed.

Other noteworthy changes include a revamped chassis with wider tracks, reprogrammed electronics, lowered suspension and carbon ceramic breaks, plus new 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, and an assortment of aero upgrades.
