The next BMW X5 M is increasing its public appearances on the road allowing automotive paparazzi to capture fresh footage and pictures of the prototype models, which for the most part, remain heavily camouflaged.

The F15 generation of the X5 series in general, will take an evolutionary styling step, with the M-prepped model to gain the usual cosmetic trinkets such as bespoke bumpers, bigger alloy wheels, flared fenders, spoilers, a rear diffuser and the traditional four-pipe exhaust system.

Underneath the body, you will find a new and lighter platform architecture that could cut the luxury SUVs weight by as much as 150kg or 330 pounds, improving performance, fuel economy and, of course, handling.

As for the powertrain setup, the X5 M will utilize BMW’s newer S63Tu 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that powers the latest M5 sedan and M6 coupe/convertible models, together with BMW‘s xDrive AWD system and either a dual clutch or an automatic transmission.

We expect to see the X5 M making its market premiere sometime in 2014.
