For some…inexplicable reason, Skoda is having a hard time hiding its new Octavia from snooping eyes while filming the car on…public roads in Santiago, Chile.

About a week ago, it was CarScoop reader Nicholas W. who captured the saloon or to be precise, the liftback model on the streets of the South American country, and now, it is Juan J., a member of the Conducechile forums, who was able nab the station wagon variant of the third generation Octavia.

Juan tells us that it wasn’t easy getting close to the vehicle as Skoda’s people tried to prevent anyone from filming the car – hence the distance from which the photo was shot.

The station wagon version of the Octavia, which in some markets will be called Combi (i.e. Germany) and in others Estate, looks like it keeps the same roofline design as the current model, while we anticipate that like the liftback, it too will grow in size offering improved space for both passengers and their luggage.

From what we have heard, the new Octavia should make its online debut within the next few weeks and its public premiere at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in the beginning of March.
