We do not know if Mercedes-Benz was ready to share the revamped E-Class series with us yet, but either way, official imagery of both the sedan and Estate (Wagon in the U.S.) surfaced online today.
The E-Class refresh is more extensive than usual with the German brand affording its executive model series a brand new face that does away with the squared looks and the distinctive quad-headlight treatment for two new single-element headlights complete with integrated LED daytime running lights, a new grille with a thicker chrome surround and a restyled bumper.
The cosmetic changes on the outside continue with the freshened up side trim, the alloy wheel designs, the rear combination lights and the bumper design. The same revisions apply for Merc's spacious E-Class Estate / Wagon.
From the single image of the interior released we see that the 2014 model year E-Class adopts the same three-instrument gauge layout and the center console clock of the latest CLS, while also gaining new trims and changes to the buttons of the infotainment and air-conditioning systems.
We'll have to wait to find out if the upgrades are more than skin deep, though, it should not be long before Mercedes-Benz comes out with the full details.
Thanks to Bruno for the tip!

Very nice! But they need to update the interior.
Not bad, but there are too many curves on the front bumper / headlights compared to the "sqaredness" of the rest of the car.
The new headlights look a bit like the w220 ones.
the designer at MB needs to be fired, prev one i could digest after they messed up the 2008 one, bmw has good design language
dafuq!!
what a hideous bumper design for sedan
and why the front bumper of wagon looks sportier.
Exterior "update" loses some traditional E class styling cues - the front headlights look alive - the rear tail lights look lifted from a VW. My biggest gripe with Mercedes vehicles is their rather cold interiors - nothing warm, inviting or luxurious. A sturdy & safe family car is all I see here although the E63 will have much more aggressive design language at of course a premium ticket. My lean these days is toward an Audi S6/S7 in this class.
MB designers need to learn the "less is more" rule. The line off of the rear tail lights over the rear fenders criss-crossing the main body line is just too much and unnecessary. The car would look so much better without it. The grill on the sedan is too chunky and the lower fascia too curvy for the sharpness of the rest of the car. The grill on the wagon is much more understated and the even though the fascia is still curvy, it works a lot better with the rest of the car because there are a lot less intersecting and arbitrary lines. I have never been a big MB fan, but I definitely like this refresh over the last generation E class.
what's with the black patch at the centre of the sedan's grill? lol
Its ugly compared to the previous 2012 model. I hate it. It is not as coherent and whole as the previous model. The front doesn't align up with the rest of the lines of the car.
love it, AMG version, yeah baby!!!
WHY ....
not sure why but looks clunky and somehow not flowing
It looks great merc did a great refresh. It still kinda has the quad headlight design going with the drl led layout. Can't wait to see the coupe.
Rear end looks like a subaru legacy, front end looks nasty
Have to say treatment looks good.
design looked at bit forced
that's the Distronic sensor
