Over 118,000 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon Trucks Recalled for Missing Hood Latches

|

Oops…it looks like GM may have overlooked to add a secondary hood latch on its 2010-2012MY Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon twin pickup trucks, built from November 9, 2009, through August 28, 2012.

If this happens to be the case and the primary hood latch is not engaged, then according to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), "the hood could open unexpectedly. During vehicle operation, this could obstruct the view of the driver and increase the risk of a crash."

General Motors said it will notify owners of the affected models and instruct them to inspect their vehicle for the presence of a secondary hood latch.

The automaker added that it will initiate the recall on January 17, 2013.

How do you forget a hood latch on over 100K trucks? No wonder GM went bankrupt once already.
