A couple of hours ago, a number of sites reported about an allegedly leaked teaser sketch of the 2014 Dodge Dart SRT4, presumably sourced from a site named Ontariostreetcar.

Since the source matters when it comes to these kinds of stories, we took a closer look at Ontariostreetcar. There we found a number of unaccredited images and renderings including one of our own, the 2014 Chevy SS, so it quickly became evident that this website wasn’t the source.

To make a long story short, we traced back the image to the ‘Neon Enthusiasts’ forums and one of its members named “Neon GTS”. As it turns out, it’s a screen shot of a PDF (or PowerPoint) file from a computer. The author’s posting is even more interesting:

“Looks like this could be the final design, sounds like march or april will be production date if all goes to plan, Also sounds like the jeeps in August will go to another plant to be produced and 2 more models to replace them for the 2014 model year. Company I work for is gearing up for the change over and possible increase in production in the next couple months.”

From the looks of it, we’d say the sketch could very well be legit, especially since the file is signed by Tim Doyle, who happens to be the lead exterior designer of the new 2013 Dodge Dart. If that’s the case, then “Neon GTS’s” decision to publish the sketch online doesn’t seem like a very wise move…
