First Official Photos of Cadillac's New ELR Extended-Range Hybrid Coupe [Updated]

|

The countdown for the presentation of the new Cadillac ELR at the Detroit auto show (January 14 to 27) begins with a fresh set of pictures that afford us our first unobstructed view of the GM's upmarket extended range hybrid coupe.

The new images show some exterior details of the car as well as of the sharply styled interior that keeps in line with other products from Cadillac.

Under the more fancy sheet metal that was previewd by the 2009 Converj Concept, you will find GM's Voltec plug-in hybrid powertrain sourced from the Chevrolet Volt combining an electric motor with a T-shaped lithium-ion and a 1.4-liter gasoline-engine that acts as a generator to extend the driving range when necessary. As with the Volt, power is transferred to the front wheels.

Expect to see the new ELR in Cadillac's showrooms from this fall, with full details to be announced within the next 24 hours.

Great looking car. If it goes well then it should be a winner. Cadillac is on a role with their designs.

Everything I see I definitely like a great deal. Unlike my abysmal disappointment with the new Corvette.

That fake wood trim looks out of place in a hybrid vehicle. I know Karmas have wood trim too - it looks equally horrible.

wow that interior is nice!, thats gotta be the best interior ive seen from GM ever the detail, the mix of materials used. the slant of the windshield looks off to me but that interior is amazing.

The most desirable hybrid on earth ! A rwd will be great, but with low sale, I understand.

?? What the heck makes you think the wood is fake?? Oh my bad I just read you screen name. that answers all questions.

europeon said... »January 14, 2013

What makes you think it isn't?

Great looking car, GM really upper their quality lately.

This is a terrific looking car. I'd be a buyer after the first model year (let others be the first year beta testers).

Stunningly beautiful 4 seat coupe........priced correctly it will add to the mystique of the Cadillac brand for years to come no matter how many they actually sell.

Looks really cool!

I'm sorry, but that is just really ugly.

Needs Lamborghini style scissor doors.

Gabriel said... »January 15, 2013

sorry, but this car is gorgeous, and some of you are obviously blind. It's going to be pricey, and it's sadly not RWD. other than that, Cadillac, congrats on your best looking car yet. On that note, give one to me.. If you read this.

Now this is a sharp looking caddy. This is an electric car that I would actually buy.

Because this isn't the Nineties. If Cadillac can afford putting it in all the other models, sans the Escalade, then I think it can afford putting it in here.
