Among the many world premieres that will be awaiting Detroit auto show attendees next week is a new model from Jeep, which has released a couple of teaser images to put us in the mood.
Now, while the Chrysler Group brand won't tell us what it is yet, we've heard that the model seen here is the facelifted 2014 Grand Cherokee.
We used a little bit of Photoshop trickery to brighten up the dark teaser to reveal a new front end for Jeep's flagship model with headlamps that look similar in styling to those used on the latest Chrysler 300 and a less flamboyant interpretation of the brand's seven-slot grille.
Besides the new fascia, the 2014 Grand Cherokee will likely gain some styling changes to the rear end, mainly the tail lamps, and quite possibly, some upgrades to the interior.
Under the skin, Jeep has already confirmed the addition of a new diesel engine option that will be based on the 3.0-liter V6 unit already offered in Europe, while it is also expected to announce the introduction of a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
Chrysler's financial woes must still be alive and well. Why else would they fit surplus Chrysler 300 headlights on their new Jeeps?
ReplyDeleteThe headlights might also be from the 2008-2012 Audi A4 that some poor guy parked outside the Jefferson North Assembly Plant. Forgot to feed the meter.
ReplyDeleteNow with all these christmas-tree-headlights-era there's one big problem - they're so bright, that you notice the turn signal much too late and yeep, they seems to be taken form the present Chrysler 300, same thought!

I agree. I can't stand the way LEDs are being whored-out to every new and existing model lately. And there are cheap looking too. I just a read an article where a seasoned auto stylist from Europe compared the use of them as cheap design equivalent to using chrome accents.
ReplyDeleteDesign it true to its roots...the head light design is nice but should have been proportioned to the size of the vehicle and not used the 300c lights
ReplyDeleteI live in a stupid country, where You have to drive 24h with lights on and I'm telling You it's been a big problem on some cars with very bright LED-DRLs in the same headlight with turning signals - especially during a Day, just ask the Canadians...
