Maybe we're just not seeing it in these pictures, but we expected something a little bit different, a little bit more attractive from SsangYong when it released the first teaser sketches of its redesigned Rodius minivan on Wednesday, in advance of its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
These images of the new Rodius, which will be called ‘Korando Turismo’ in South Korea and Stavic in other select markets, were shot during what appears to be a media or a dealer presentation of the car in its homeland.
We will leave it you to decide if the new design works better or worse for you compared to the outgoing model, which is widely considered to be one of the ugliest production vehicles of our time.
SsangYong has said the second-generation Rodius will go on sale in Europe and other countries around the world this summer.

* Face-palm* And you thought they couldn't make it any uglier...
I had 6 people say it looks great, not had that with any other car. I think this is worse the interior is hacked up version of the old one, not cohesive at all.
Wow, ugly as sin.
last time the back was ugly, this time its the front!
Ow! My eyes are bleeding!
Well I think SsangYong doesn't have any concept for new cars...
It looks sexy! (just kidding). I actually threw up a little in my mouth.
Kill it before it lay eggs !
Aughh My eyes my eyes!!!
The rear quarter panel looks like it tried to merge the silhouette of the current mercedes GL with the first generation Mercedes ML into one, confused, and uninspiring design. Very interesting. I think this could be so much worse though, so I'm not complaining, and it helps not to have high expectations for these guys in the first place.
dat ass
I'd have to be the car dealer who has to sell one of these...
WOW, when you think China made a ugly car they bring out something new.
It is like they use photoshop to cut and paste parts of cars they like, but forget to stand back and look at what they built (kind of like GM).
Ugly is the new black
Pretty well specced though... 4WD (with low range), seat heating etc...
But that front!!!!!!
Is Ssangyong's design team a group of blind people designing by feel? I just can't understand how they continue to get their cars so... wrong.
Overhead at design meeting, ".....what the public wants is a car that looks like a tortoise humping a cardboard box......"
It's a minivan; how pretty could it possibly be? Looks about on par for a minivan (which isn't sayin' much).
Who buys this crap honestly?! Apparently someone is since they are still making cars.... Has to be the worlds 8th wonder...
I don't know why you guys pick only on Azteks and the SsangYong Rodius.
Take a look! There is plenty of ugly out there to go around!
We've just become numb to it.
Years ago, car design used to be a beauty contest.
Today, it's often a mad race to out-ugly each other.
And worse, the public buys it up!
Obviously there's a lot of copying of a lot of other SUV's going on, plus some unfortunate complicating original styling. The wierd part is that the proportions and side sculpturing appear to be similar to the Pontiac Aztec, which died a long time ago after being pretty much universally reviled.
I don't know why every one is picking on the front of this thing. It fits perfectly with the rest of this abomination. What the hell is going on behind the back door?
omg... what did we do to deserve this ? whyyy ??
It's certainly better than driving the same old same old, all the cars on the road these days are the same. I for one am glad to buy a true seven seater that looks a little different. I would rather be a trend setter than a follower...............
Does anyone of the distinguished writers knows this car too closely? Or all these "experts" simply release words without real control. I bought this car twice in the last three years. I have not had a car like this before. all i can say is: "Rodius like my family and my family loves him. It's so convenient, powerful and useful .I just enjoy it. The old engine of the Mercedes is very pleasing. Sometimes I want to buy another Rodius so I dont have to share it all the time.
