This is the All-New Infiniti Q50 Sports Sedan [Updated Gallery Part II]

Previously, we showed you a cropped photo of the new Infiniti Q50's rear end, which most of you rightly guessed, but now it’s time to share the first full blown pictures of the car that will replace the G series sedan in the Japanese brand's lineup.

At least one of the images appears to have come from Infiniti's consumer site in Canada, while we also get a view of the Q50's rear quarter profile.

Infiniti's new premium sedan, which will go against the likes of BMW's 3-Series sedan, adopts the brand's new styling DNA with marque's new signature grille that kind of reminds us of a more compact version of rivaling Lexus' spindle front mouth piece.

There's no official word on the engine options, or any other details for that matter, but it won't be long before we find out, so stay tuned…

Update: While we're looking into other stories, the forumsters at MyG37 uploaded a gallery of new photos of the Infiniti Q50, including the first of the sport sedan's interior that you can check out for yourself in detail below.

The front end kind of looks like the front of the new 3 series...

  2. WHOA!!! Chinese clones are more original that this.

  3. I have to say, I'm slightly disappointed. :-/ Especially the interior. They don't look premium enough, which was always been the issue with G.

Header over to the linked forum for more pictures.

  4. This is the problem with Nissan adopting a familiar styling language across nissan and infiniti this Q looks like a compact altima....kinda like what a new nissan stanza would have looked like.....not a good thing.

This must be the Skyline V37 as I know it...The next Skyline....

  6. I like it! but for some reason the rear end reminds of Hyundai Sonata.

Chunky bumper and a wannabe spindle grille. Not impressive, but I've never expected fresh from Infiniti anyways. Also, I normally don't participate in the whole "Oh this car just looks like car a, stole car b's lights and threw on car c's bumper"; because I honestly don't think a car designer with any self respect would steal a feature verbatim, but they certainly try to follow trends too closely. This Infiniti has just made an example of itself

Not as nice as the old one. Disapointing - but at least it shows originality in it's design which is more than you can say for other companies

wow. another Japanese sedan with a dog leg c-pilar, taillights connected with a chrome strip and a bizarre Lexus-like snout.

  14. looks like a subaru with that front bumper design and air intakes, the rest of the car seems alright

  15. Some things need to be cleared up. Infiniti started the spindle style grille, not Lexus. Infiniti has been the company taking the most risks with its designs and they have been original. Although, this car does favor some cars slightly but this is an original design. If you do not like the Infiniti company, okay, but do not disrespect their art by saying that they stole it from someone else. This car takes cues from many different Infiniti concepts starting with the Essence concept, which came out before any of the cars that people compare Infiniti designs to. Furthermore, I believe this car will look extremely better in person than in pictures, but I happen to enjoy the design.

i agree, first thing i thought was 2012 impreza. Other than that it is a nice looking car

  17. To me the spindle grille looks dumb on the Lexus. Why did Infiniti choose that style? The previous style is better in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Looking at it head on it doesn't look like a true "spindle" grille. Thank goodness. It is just the camera angle.

  19. Luxury Cars should have more clean lines, Infiniti has too many creases and curves, it's starting to look like Hyundai!!

  20. I can't believe how much this looks like a BMW 3 series in the side shot.

It will be mistaken for an Altima.

Sorry, the new Impala looks better than that freakshow Infiniti.

I hate the feminization of Inifinitis and Nissans. Nissan keeps taking two-steps back into the late 90s with everything that keep putting out. Just heart wrenching to see happen. What a e'ffn shame..

  24. The roof profile and pillars are very much like the current BMW 3 series.
Rear of this, Sonata, Mazda6 even the new Maserati are all very similar.

Looks better then the new Lexus IMO

  25. Looks good, wonder what motors it will get.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes the front end does remind you of the BMW 3 series...

But thank GAWD it is nothing like that overpriced BMW! While this new generation Q has to grow on most Infiniti fans, I still think it's superior to the German offerings. Remember when Infiniti updated the previous generation G coupe? Everyone hated it, but now that coupe is one of the sexiest cars on the road behind the A5.

I like this new Q...the coupe will be even more aggressive..can't wait!

  27. Looking at this, the rear and the front seem disjointed, like they were created from different design studios. Also, the interior is a dead ringer for a luxurious sonata interior. If it performs well though, then all will be forgiven I think. I hope Infiniti did not get rid of their signature clock. That would be such a terrible omission.

  28. One last thing, Infiniti came up with that grill shape long before lexus

    ReplyDelete
  29. the Japanese are H.A.M on styling

    ReplyDelete
  30. from the side it look abit like the 3 series

  31. It doesn't really matter if they started the spindle style grille. Apple didn't invented the tablets or touch screen phones, yet 90% of the world think they did. Same thing applies here. People will see an Infiniti - if they ever have the chance to see one taking into account their poor sales - and they'll think to themselves "look, a Lexus knockoff" or a BMW or a Subaru, depending on the angle they see it.

As for the design risks, please... the only "risk" they took was the FX, everything else was either taken from JDM or Nissan.

    ReplyDelete
  32. While Infiniti utilized the spindle design on its grills before Lexus (albeit on a more modest scale), Holden was the 1st to use the oversized "Predator" grill shape and Hyundai followed with a concept.

It looks good but grille is too big for my taste.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't like the grill. Are car manufacturers in a competition to make the ugliest grill? New Lexus IS, now this? If so, I think the IS would probably still win. I'll wait and see what these cars look like at the Detroit auto show but the photos don't look that exciting. It looks too curvy, too many lines, particularly the side profile.

  38. JDM? seriouslyJanuary 13, 2013

well your wrong there, I would imagine fewer people have seen the grill on the lexus and actually made much attention to it. While anyone that has seen a recent Infiniti will think the front looks just like the M or FX. Not to mention the grill isnt identical at all to the Lexus as the Lexus grill is much more pronounced and larger more or less a reshaped version of the shield grill Audi uses. As far as your comment which honestly made no sense since its JDM Nissans are no different than Infinitis and Nissans here at least the ones that would have inspired the design they just have different names and badges. Im assuming based on the fact you used JDM you didnt know that which would make your comment a bit pompous and ignorant but hey such is car blogs and their users that know nothing of cars.

    ReplyDelete
  39. That's a rather ignorant statement. The Infiniti G series thoroughly outsells the lexus IS. If anything, people will see the IS and think Q50 wanna be

    ReplyDelete
  40. The interior is ripped off from the Sonata and so are the rear lights.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Has anyone noticed this car has a 7500rpm red line? Strong performance aspirations

    ReplyDelete
  42. Evan McMasterJanuary 13, 2013

I still prefer the german cars, particularly Audi, but this car does have potential. However, I think the interior is still terrible, it has always been the biggest downfall of this car.

    ReplyDelete
  43. For people who say this car rips off the Sonata's interior... give your heads a shake and look inside an Infiniti QX, FX, or EX...

For the rear end ripping off the Sonata, don't tell me there's no family resemblance between this car's back end and the M/JX.

And about the "infamous" Lexus grill... I really want to hear from the people who TRULY believe this, especially if they have seen the Infiniti Essence show car (which Infiniti said it would take design cues from for future models), or the Infiniti FX. I'd like access to that dementia.

haters will hate, it's been said.

I saw this too, they say it is a 3 series rival so I am wondering what the engine will be. Most turbocharged 4 cylinders do not rev that high and a v-6 that revs to 7500 seems very strong

Although this new Q50 breaks little new ground visually from the G37 based on these images - I predict it will be much better looking in person. I'm very disappointed in the new Lexus IS F sport also. I agree with others, a bit too organic with curves and lines going everywhere - they won't age gracefully. I'd recommend buyers step up to the M (now Q, silly) or GS. IN addition, Acura has failed across the board and needs a complete overhaul. Oh well, these designs we'll have to see for the next 5-7 years.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Overall disappointed with the appearance. For the shape of the car, straight lines would have looked better. Find the front ugly. Found the inside ugly as well. What can I say, just don't like the result of this new model. Won't hate Infiniti for it but I will definitely pass on this looking ahead. Guess I'll just read about the specs to see what it can do. Oh well.

The headlights and black foglight strakes remind me of the Subaru BRZ, while the rear tail lights are reminiscent of a Kia Optima. The interior isn't bad. Are they removing the center clocks now? C'mon Nissan! Can't we get more unique design language again? Can we go back to the days of the Cima, the Cedric, and the Cefiro? Please?

  48. Carlito BriganteJanuary 13, 2013

The only thing i like about it is that touch screen... Not the style and shape of it, but the idea...

  49. Yeah, my bad... I forgot it's raining Skylines, Fugas and Cimas outside Japan.
But what do I know, I'm just a troll because I have different opinions, right?

i think this car with 3 pedals and 6 gears would be pretty sweet. i don't know what you guys are complaining about... to me it looks good and that's all that matters, oh and a 3rd pedal option...

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yeah, but this was designed before the Lexus spindle grille debuted in 2011.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ignorant statement, considering that Infiniti invented this grille in 2008 and this car was also designed before the Lexus spindle debuted. Some of you just open your mouths about things you don't know about too easily.

    ReplyDelete
  53. The Sonata took from the design cues of the 2007-2009 Infiniti range and the Cadillac CTS.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yep, very true. Lexus came up with theirs a year after Infiniti and also after the Essence Concept in early 2009.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think you should be quiet, as you only look stupid when you mention that. The Sonata interior took from the interior design theme Infiniti invented in 2004 for their 2007-present models. This is merely an evolution of it. These taillights look hardly like the Sonata's.

    ReplyDelete
  56. The 3-Series debuted months after the Q50 design was frozen in June 2011.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Maybe the Sonata tid bit, but they finished the Q50 design way before the Mazda 6 and Quattroporte debuted. The 3-Series got leaked a few months after the Q50 design freeze as well.

    ReplyDelete
  58. It does, but ironically this car was designed before the 3-Series came out in 2011.

It doesn't 'wow' me. Its okay, it will do the job, but will never be class leading. Not such a fan of the interior, doesn't give me a quality feel. So when all said and done, its just another car, no one will rush out and get this, but it will still have a role to play in the segment .
