Since we are approaching the launch date of the new Toyota Proace in Europe, the Japanese carmaker decided to release a fresh set of images of its commercial and passenger van series that replaces the Hiace.

If the van’s appearance looks eerily familiar, it is because Toyota entered an OEM agreement with PSA Peugeot Citroën to rebadge its Citroen Jumpy and Peugeot Expert models. There’s also a fourth variant of the series produced by Fiat and named the Scudo.

Production of the Proace will take place at the PSA Peugeot Citroën and Fiat joint-venture Sevel Nord factory in northern France in April, with UK sales scheduled to follow shortly afterwards.

The Proace will be available in two lengths and heights, with load capacities of 5m3, 6m3 or 7m3, and payloads ranging from one to 1.2 tonnes , while the van will be able to tow up to two tonnes.

Along with the commercial version, buyers can also specify the Proace as a glass van, or six-seat crew cab. Engine options include a selection of Euro 5 turbo diesels with outputs from 89 to 161bhp.
