Ask most people what is the first thing that they would want GM to improve upon the C6 Corvette, and you are likely to get an answer about the interior.
The General says it listened to consumers and has made huge improvements to the new Corvette Stingray's cabin, be that in terms of styling, equipment, tech features or the quality of the materials.
"The 2014 Corvette Stingray offers a completely redesigned interior space," says GM. "Truth in materials. Intricate craftsmanship. Competition seating options. Intelligent instrumentation in high definition. The departure begins in the cockpit."
Until consumers can see and feel that for themselves, GM is trying to get the word around through promotional material like the video that follows the jump below.
Can't tell the difference between this and SAAB interior. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sum93jJWFf4/TktRzZlQ4jI/AAAAAAAAATQ/zx3gV1UwAcg/s1600/Saab_9_5_Interior_14.jpg
ReplyDeleteNICE!
ReplyDeleteso thats Yank quality, and not German quality
ReplyDeleteOMG you are right, the wheel is on the left and the console is in the middle and navigation is above the console.
ReplyDeleteyour right its amazing how they both have steering wheels and gauges.....what an idiot
ReplyDeleteVery nice and sporty interior! The Stingray Concept from several years ago had a stunning interior but this production interior, although not as striking, has a high attention to detail and incorporates an incredible level of technology. Looking forward to seeing it in person tomorrow at the Auto Show.
ReplyDeleteGM and quality don't mix, cheap high rate loans on people that can't afford the cars is why GM sells cars.
ReplyDeleteu know they can sell anything to americans these days.....what's with the whole "real" stitching...what being a tailor and stitching something is an art now....wtf...i guess enough slow motion footage can sell anything... weaving is more of an art ... can't wait for that to be exploited in the near future.... actually the way its going..gluing 2 things together will be next big thing...
ReplyDeleteTesla is the only American car company I can respect ...they produce High Qulaity with having the competition forcing them to...
ReplyDeletehigh quality of craftmanship on a mass production, I'm not sure if that is achievable by GM, but if it works, I would hope GM applies the same principle to every other cars.
ReplyDeletemajor improvement on the older corvette interieurs - but lets be honest.. those were as cheap as it gets. this on, even better by far, still doesn't look premium somehow. the designlanguage would fit to a kia saloon or maybe an infinity.
ReplyDeletewhat the accomplished on the exterieur design (except for those taillights), they missed in the interieur. there are too many rounded triangle shapes in it. some straighter and more parallel lines would have made it look much more serious.
I am glad Chevy is trying with this new interior to get it right which should have been right several years ago.
ReplyDeleteNo not really...we don't have money anymore...lol.
ReplyDeleteok folks lets remember this is a 50-60 k automobile not a 90 -100 k automobile. GM need to keep the costs down someplace. therefore for a 50 - 60 k auto, the interior isn't that bad. if you want leather dash with premium stitching and high quality materials, get in line for a much higher priced vehicle , Telsa included !! let get real folks.
ReplyDeleteSpeak for yourself.
ReplyDeleteYour spelling would fit a 2nd grader.
ReplyDeleteWhen you set out to build cars to make money, the whole point is to convince the customer and sell, not to satisfy dimwits like you that don't have two pennies to their name to rub together. Go find a nice article about some predictable German borebox to fawn over if that's what it takes for your praise.
ReplyDeleteBoth were made by GM so yeah, there may be a genealogy there.
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY my point...4u A car is about making money not ABOUT building quality product... Tesla is a quality product and is american....see no German references here like you expected..
ReplyDeleteHey, GM used to my pure garbage that only sold because "buy America" was the thing then. They have come very far in their quality. I would actually consider buying a GM product now. I would have never considered it before.
ReplyDeletei typed it in quiet a hurry, sorry for the misspellings... how good is your german, by the way? bet you can speak my language fluently, right ;)
ReplyDeletethat's true - but despite the materials, a different design doesn't cost (much) more. and they did use some nice materials by the look of it.
ReplyDeleteThat interior isn't so bad, because it shold be very easy to use and readable, but the digital instrument cluster is a big fail - they tried it in the 80's and no hit, so why try it again?
ReplyDeleteWhen people talk about "stitching" as if that's a revolutionary element to a quality interior, it's clear how behind the times the Corvette team actually is. And to say that "there isn't a single surface that wasn't thought about..." again, reinforces the apparent fact that these guys are just now figuring out how to make a decent interior. The end result appears to be well made, but the design itself is very common and unoriginal. I love Corvettes, but I'm not optimistic that this is the car that's expected to compete for the next eight years or so.
ReplyDeleteThey can try to convince me all they want; it still looks dated in the end...
ReplyDeleteit's no german, let's admit it...an improvement but still poor in comparison with european cars...
ReplyDeleteI've got to laugh at the notion of expensive German cars being 'quality' autos. Once the warranty period is over on those cars they have a hard time moving them off car lots. The depreciation on them is incredible.
ReplyDeleteThe amount of silly over the top complicated electronic systems and sensors in them make them ticking time bombs once out of warranty.
If you want quality buy a Honda, Toyota or Subaru.
Have you ever owned a German car once it's out of warranty?
ReplyDeleteAfter 4 years that 60K Vette will be worth 10-20K more than the 100K German auto.
ReplyDeleteJust have a look at comparatively how little the 100K Bmws and MGs bring when sold used.
USA#1, Germany #1245!
ReplyDeleteI always do...
