Images of the new generation of Kia's Forte compact hatch were released in advance of its world premiere at the Chicago Auto Show later today.
Much in the same way as the Forte sedan that was presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show last November, the five-door hatchback is a more stylish proposal than the car it replaces with the exterior design highlighted by sculpted flanks, curves and a more prominent front end.
The interior is also new and features all the latest gadgetry such as a large touch screen for the available infotainment system, as well as higher quality materials, with the display model shown in these pictures boasting a full leather interior that even covers the dashboard cowl.
We still lack official details about the hatch, which in other markets will be known as the K3 and Cerato, but expect it to be offered in the States with the same four-cylinder engine range as the sedan, including a 148hp 1.8-liter unit and possibly, the stronger 173hp 2.0-liter powerplant.
We'll have more on the 2014 Forte hatch after its presentation in Chicago.

This looks great! I was never a fan of the huge gaping maws with the exposed bumper on the front of these types of cars. I wish Kia kept the front of this more like the sedan. However, I still would buy it over any of the competitors. I really like the interior. Nice job Kia!
