New 2014 Toyota Corolla Sedan Spotted on the Road in Asia [Update: Or is the Vios?]

The new generation of Toyota's popular Corolla Sedan has been nabbed on camera for the second time this month.

While the previous pictures appeared to have been shot in an enclosed area, possibly during a private presentation, the Corolla seen here was captured driving on the road, reportedly in Asia, by a one Yusri Asek.

That said, the dark red-colored 2014 Corolla is likely an Asian market specification model, but don't expect any significant styling changes over the car that will go on sale in other parts of the world, including North America and Europe.

The exterior styling of the next Corolla was previewed to the public through the Corolla Furia Concept car that had its world premiere at last month's Detroit Auto Show.

A global presentation of the production model will take place later this year.

Thanks to Chien-Jay for the tip!

Update 1: A previous version of this article said the car was photographed in The Philippines, but CarScoop reader Chien-Jay told us it was in Taiwan.

Update 2: Many of you are claiming that this might be the new Vios, but we can't really tell from this picture. Nevertheless, we'll keep looking and update accordingly.

This is Toyota Vios not Corolla. And it was pictured in Thailand.

Could it be the new Vios?

Do you think it's a little too stubby to be a Corolla? Probably the next Yaris sedan/Vios.

This is the new generation Vios not the Corolla.

This is New Vios or Yaris Sedan. It was photographed in Thailand. Confirmed!

It could be, but it's hard to tell from this picture alone in which it looks like the Corolla we showed you earlier last month.

Either way, it's underwhelming nonetheless.

Haha, Mr John, dont need to argue, this is new Vios. Do u wan me to send u more pic for this Vios?

This was shot in Thailand. and its a Vios, it says so in the rear plates.
See link to rear view.
This was also posted on Top Gear Philippines, so that may have added to the confusion.
Taiwan and the Philippine are left hand drive, Thailand is right hand drive.

-> The way it looks is too stubby for it to be a Corolla, it might be the new Belta/Vios/Yaris sedan. And blurry pics on its license plate says "VIOS". ;)

This is definitely the Toyota vios, it's due for a complete redesign. And the dimensions are too small for it to be the new corolla, but it's apparent that they have taken styling cues from the JDM corolla axio and the furia concept.

It's the new generation Vios spotted in Thailand.

from the hot news, this is the new Vios

amac604 said... »February 15, 2013

Almost bland enough to be a Corolla.

Mike S said... »February 15, 2013

It's the Vios, all right--but bear in mind the Vios is modeled after the Corolla, or the other way around. Either way, I think it looks pretty good, and definitely better than Hyundai's Accent, and Ford's Fiesta sedan. I thought the trunk lid of the Furia was a bit low, and doubted it would make it to the mainstream. Looks like I was right on that one, but nonetheless, this pic is good news.

Thought it was a bit stubby when I first saw it. If looks are any indication, the new Corolla is gonna come out okay.

Mike S said... »February 15, 2013

Google "new vios thailand 2013"

Think so? Wish we could chuck the Yaris for the Vios.
