Only 1 New Ferrari Sold in Greece in 2012, Compared to 21 in 2007

|

That the economy of Greece is in shambles, is no secret, nor is the fact it will take years, if not decades, for the country to stand up on its feet again.

Even the rich seem to be affected from the cash flow crunch, as according to a Reuters report, only one new Ferrari sports car was registered in Greece for the whole of last year. Perhaps the Greeks turned to the used market, we hear you ask? Nope, as only one used Ferrari was sold in a country of more than 11 million in 2012.

Naturally, these numbers don't mean anything if you do not have something to comparing them with. In 2007, the year before the crisis broke out, 21 new Ferrari models were delivered in Greece, along with another 27 used examples.

That brings the grand total to two new and used Ferraris in 2012 versus 48 examples in 2007. And if you're wondering about the new car market as a whole, in 2007, a total of 279,794 brand new vehicles were sold in Greece compared to a paltry 58,482 units last year.

"That the economy of Greece is in shambles..."

Yep, and the next country in line (after Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain) is France!

Look up Golden Dawn, they want to PERMANENTLY REMOVE the parasite illegal immigrants from Greece, who take up so much public money people are taxed too high. And these illegal immigrants commit many RAPES and VIOLENCE against our Greek brethern. Time to send them and the traitor politicans and buisnessmen to HELL with the foreign filth 300 STYLE!

Why don't we check how many Ferrari's were delivered in Bulgaria compared to a few years ago cause i'm sure that greeks register the ferrari's they drive in greece in bulgaria to avoid the extremely harsh taxes.

I believe these "illegal parasites" are endemic in most Western European countries now since it is their career to get as much welfare as they can, as well as trying to out-breed the local population.

In the USA, I understand, "immigrants" cannot claim welfare for the first 10 years. Perhaps all countries should adopt that?

don't know much about Golden Dawn, don't like neoNazi or the old one either, but sure don't like illegal immigrants taking Greece for granted, and why in the hell are the illegal still in Greece, it's going broke just like where ever the hell these illegals came from.

"Even the rich seem to be affected from the cash flow crunch"... maybe, or only one was brave enough - knowing what will happen to you driving a brand new ferrari through greece ;) if one reads what 'the man' (for example) is writing, i wouldn't want to drive through greece in anything above 2grand right now. i'm sorry for what is going on 'down' there, but i wouldn't believe everything the media says... e.g. the bad immigrants are the problem (what would people tell a german who says the same??). the whole system is the problem since it is designed to break down every state! look at the (investment) banks, the big businesses and politicians... those are the real problem (all around the world!).

To those who don't know, the way the idiots over at Golden Dawn are solving the country's issues is by murdering immigrants in general and by spreading hate and racism. You should all watch American History X I believe and see what, hopefully, really happens to you sooner or later.

Regarding the subject of the article, the way Greeks are, they may be buying the cars but not registering them.

The thing is that greeks lived on a standard their country could not afford. It was like a balloon that was inflating more and more until it burst. Imo.

Who is being taxed too much?! Last I heard, very few were even bothering to pay their taxes over there. They have been cooking their books for a long time and now it has quite rightly exploded in their face. As for the immigrants, people should inform themselves properly about these issues and how friendly and tolerant the Greeks really are, instead of listening to this moron preaching bollocks about a neo-nazi group that will supposedly turn things around for the better.
