Winter is not the right time to be out in a powerful convertible model, unless, of course, you happen to be an automotive engineer conducting tests on a future model.

If you weren’t pleased with our first, far-away shots of the upcoming Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, our spies scored another set of photos, this time up close and personal, when the cloth-top sports car was parked at a gas station.

We don’t know if Aston’s engineers misguidedly believed the layers of snow would act as a disguise, but only the boot fascia and center section of the tail lamps were masked off, thus providing us with an excellent view of the convertible version of the new Vanquish.

The sole available engine for the Vanquish Volante will be the latest iteration of Aston’s 5.9-liter V12, which is good for 565hp (573PS) and 620Nm (457 lb-ft) of peak torque. A six-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission will handle the transfer of power to the rear axle.

A Geneva Motor Show debut next month is possible, but not yet confirmed.
