SsangYong's Ginormous Rodius MPV can Seat up to 11 Passengers! [47 Photos + Videos]

|

It may not really improve upon the image we have about the Rodius in all aspects of styling, but SsangYong's new people carrier will more than impress with its spacious interior that features no less than four rows of seats accommodating up to 11 passengers!

While its world premiere will be held at the Geneva Motor Show in the beginning of March, SsangYong revealed the new generation of the Rodius under the 'Korando Turismo' nameplate today in its home market of South Korea. Besides those two names, the Rodius will also be known as the 'Stavic' in select countries.

The full-size van is 5,130mm (202 inches) long, 1,915mm (75.4 inches) wide and 1,815mm (71.5 inches) tall. It rides on 3.0 meter (118.1 inches) long wheelbase.

There will be a choice of two engines, starting with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four diesel rated for 155PS (153hp) linked to a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission, which will be joined later on by a 3.2-liter V6 petrol. All-wheel drive will be offered as an option.

Sales in Europe will begin in the second half of the year, with full details to be announced in Geneva.

From design point of view SsangYong is the Subaru of Korea. They just don't seem to care about how their cars look.

There's a certain point where it stops being a van and becomes a bus. Four rows is getting dangerously close to the latter.

So many scenes with unrestrained children in the back seats.Do they not have seat belt laws in Korea?

You know when you look at something long enough - you stop seeing it for how it really is... I can only assume this is what happened here.

Now fitting 11 Asians, even though it's a nice feature, is not a huge feat seeing that they are not exactly large. Now if they can fit 11 full grown Samoans that would be something.

It looks like a minibus ate a 1992 Oldsmobile Toronado and like a face in Audrey II's flower, you can see the roof of the poor little Toronado trying to get out.

big deal, back in the 80's, I used to fit 9 of my high school friends in an oldsmobile wagon, comfortably!

I like it. Not pretty but neither is a Chevy Conversion van...
