The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the usually the first image that springs to mind when talking about a modern luxury car. Long wheelbase or short, with a frugal diesel (S250 CDI has a four-cylinder engine) or a big V12, it makes a lot of sense for executives across the world.

Furthermore, regardless of what car you own, you should always take a look at the latest S-Class, just so you know what kind of features you can expect in run-of-the-mill cars in ten years’ time.

Therefore, the fact that, according to Autocar magazine, Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will be revealing their ground-up all-new S-Class on May 15 has us very interested. The launch event will be held in Hamburg and will undoubtedly be a fastidious venue.

One example of things to come is rear seatbelt airbags, which will be available on the S-Class as a world premiere. Other novelties include the replacement of all conventional light bulbs used on the car, with LEDs as well as an entire assortment of safety features.

We’re also quite curious to see their reinterpretation of its styling. We don’t expect particularly flamboyant styling, as this is a serious car for serious people, but we are curious as to what they come up with.
