Subaru WRX Concept: Are These Official Photos of the New York Auto Show Model?

Images of what is pledged to be Subaru's New York Auto Show-bound performance concept have just surfaced on the internet. The rear license plate on the car reads "Subaru WRX Concept", which is what we expected from the Japanese automaker when it first told us about its world premieres at the Big Apple.

At this time, we cannot independently confirm the claim that this is indeed that concept, but we will say that the close-up images look real.

We do know that Subaru wants to split the next WRX performance sedan from the Impreza range and create a separate line, which would encompass an even more powerful, faster and focused STI variant.

Until we hear something official from Subaru, tell us what you think of this concept's styling in the comments after the break.

Jaguar XJ front, Lexus IS behind, never mind, build it and revive the passion for fast WRXs!

Although the profile is a little weird, finally a Subaru I like to look at again. Yes, please build that!

Scion TC profile. I doubt the production version will have the $8k BBS Fi wheels.

Pseudo diffuser, last thing it needs. Looks fat. Not my type.

The design is not bad, but it really needs a wing!

Curious Q: How do you lift the trunk with the rear lights in the way?

Dave Cohen said... »March 26, 2013

Do photoshop trunks have to open?

body shape has the beefiness of an american car like camaro/mustang but still styled like an import. will be an interesting offering.

Looks like an artist's sketch where everything is exaggerated. I mean, those side view mirrors must be useless.

Reminds me a little of Prodrive's P2

I don't understand why most of the companies are opting for that hexagonal front grill. Ford, Hyundai, am and now Subaru

Much, much nicer than the current one.

It looks decent. I wonder how it would look with a wing and gold wheels. Since these concept images have just come out wouldn't that mean the production model is still a fair way away?

Round of applause for Subaru designers for trying. Hope the interior looks the part too.
