One of the less impressive-looking, but more important from a sales point of view, new presentations at Volkswagen’s Auto China 2013 stand in Shanghai, is the Gran Lavida, a station wagon version of the latest (Jetta-based) Lavida compact sedan, itself revealed for the first time at last year’s edition of the same show.

The styling of the Gran Lavida’s glasshouse and rear end with the sloped tailgate is reminiscent of another VW Group model, the Audi A3 Sportback. Besides the increased practicality and boot space, there are no other differences with the regular and very popular in China, Lavida sedan.

As such, it comes with the same selection of gasoline engines that include two naturally aspirated four-pots with a displacement of 1.6-liters and 2.0-liters, and a 1.4-liter turbocharged TSI, good for 140PS.
