When I first saw the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept, I was very pleased to see that the next incarnation of the Porsche sedan was going to stop being disproportionate (especially at the back), and start being handsome like it should have been all along. However, now that the facelift has been revealed, we have something to ease the wait for the completely new version, which is due around 2015 or 2016.

What we are left to contend with until then is the recently unveiled 2014 model-, which I believe has helped the Panamera rid itself of some of the awkward styling cues.

At the front, the redesigned headlights look crispier, and seem to be placed slightly higher than on the pre-facelift model, giving the front end a more imposing stance. Moreover, the bumper is all-new and it gets integrated horizontal LED running light strips-that seamlessly integrate with the rest of the design.

When viewed from the back, even with the re-sculptured and flared rear bumper incorporating the number-plate, and with the redesigned light clusters, this refresh has not cured the Panamera of being slightly distorted at the rear – the new long-wheelbase model makes the rear three-quarter view almost unbearable.

So, has the facelift done the trick for the technically very capable Panamera? Has it made it a more desirable car?
