The Range Rover Evoque is a very special kind of vehicle, simply because like the Renault Megane RS, it looks like a concept that somebody allowed onto the public roads. The plush British crossover looks so new and modern, that you’d think the manufacturer would have to tone it down for actual production – for that reason alone, we think the Evoque is a powerful statement of a car to be seen in.

Nevertheless, Jaguar-Land Rover is looking to keep it fresh and up to date with its styling and technology, as well as introduce additional models and body styles.

For instance, a drop-top version is on its way, and quite possibly a performance variant as well, according to Gerry McGivern, who spoke to British magazine Autocar at the New York motor show earlier this month.

He says their aim is to pick the derivative “that will have the most impact”, which it already does, so anything they base off it should be equally eye-catching and desirable. We’d honestly also like to see what the people at Bowler would be able to do with this lightest of Range Rovers, if they slotted a V8 under its bonnet…
