Subaru’s stunning WRX Concept that was revealed at the 2013 New York International Auto Show has given enthusiasts big hopes for the upcoming WRX and the WRX STI flagship model. The car’s aggressive design matches the power one expects from a WRX model, while the sedan builds on the WRX STI’s legacy (whether the hatchback shape will also be used the future for the WRX is not clear yet).

The following video features Subaru’s design boss Osamu Namba, who explains the main styling characteristics of the WRX Concept at the carmaker’s New York Auto Show booth. The car has all the styling features of regular WRX models, such as the big bonnet scoop, side outlet vents, flared wheel arches and four tail-pipes, with all of these translating the car’s turbo power into an overall muscular look. To make the statement ever clearer, the concept also wears the special blue color of its rally models.

You can watch Namba giving a detailed presentation of the WRX Concept in the video below. Let’s just hope Subaru will notice the positive reactions to this study and decide transform it into the next-generation WRX production model.
