Cars are cool, and they garner up so much interest from blokes (and gals) around the world not only because they represent impressive technical achievements, but also because of the human aspect – the story behind them. This is generally applied to each automaker that has managed to carve itself a place on the market and stay there, but it can also be applied to any specific car that has a particularly interesting history behind it.

This means that any vehicle has the potential to become cool, even if it is widely acknowledged as being a bad one – if it’s upon hearing its history you are somehow emotionally touched, then it’s a winner.

However, if the car itself is cool without the need for all of the above to back up its credentials, and it also happens to have them, then it could really prove to be an interesting buy, like this 1961 Jaguar Mk. II 3.8-liter model, which is a barn find from Pennsylvania. It is a bit rusty and a bit dusty, but appears straight overall, with no sign of accident damage or bad repairs.

Now, in the words of those currently in its possession, this is its story:

This car was bought new by a local man who later gave it to his oldest son. The oldest son went into the Navy stationed in Washington State where he drove this car. Once out of the Navy he stayed in Washington and attended college while still driving this car. Two weeks after graduating college he was killed in a car accident (not in this car). His father drove out to Washington and returned the car to the east coast where he parked the car in 1976. This Mark II was born an automatic however at some point in its life a manual transmission was installed.”

The eBay seller notes a “$4,500” price for the car, which had received 18 bids at the time we wrote this piece, with highest one standing at $1,525.
