Skoda will bring a sporty interpretation of its newly launched Rapid sedan at the Wörthersee Tour tuning show this week. Dubbed the Skoda Rapid Sport, the study will show what a high-performance version of the compact sedan could look like.

As Skoda has only released a rendering so far, we have to take their word for granted when describing the car. Painted in the metallic colors “Corrida Red” and “Steel Grey”, the Rapid Sport rides on 19-inch alloy wheels that are painted in the same colors. The car has an aggressive front end with the redesigned bumper including a spoiler lip and a big air intake and the engine hood sporting two air vents.

The package is rounded off by oversized wheel arches needed to accommodate the larger rims, plus massive rocker panels. Other sporty elements are the massive rear bumper with two integrated exhaust pipes, while on the inside Skoda put a sport-type steering wheel, Recaro seats and illuminated door sills.

There are no details about the engine, so we don’t know yet if Skoda has fitted the Rapid Sport with a unit worthy of its nameplate or a run-of-the-mill powerplant. There’s no word about a possible production version either.

Launched in autumn 2012, the Rapid is the brand’s seventh model series and sits between the Fabia and the Octavia in the Skoda’s lineup. The most powerful engine currently offered in the Rapid is the 1.4-liter TSI with 122 PS (120 hp).
