Here’s another look at BMW’s 1-Series Coupe successor, the new 2-Series Coupe that will likely arrive in showrooms sometime next year. The model seen in these scoop shots is the M Performance version of the series named the M235i.

Since it is based on the F20 1-Series hatchback, it won’t come to as a surprise to learn that the M235i shares both its performance and styling mods with the M135i.

What this means is that under the hood, there’s BMW’s latest 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six rated for 316bhp (320PS) at 5,800rpm and 450Nm (332 lb-ft) of peak torque from 1,300 to 4,500rpm, paired to a standard six-speed manual or an optional 8-speed automatic driving the rear wheels. Since BMW does offer its all-wheel drive xDrive system on the M135i, we could see the same option available for the M235i as well.

Expect a sub 5.0-second run for the 0-60mph or around 5.0 seconds for the 0-100km/h, and a limited top speed of 250km/h (155mph).

Just like the sports hatchback, the coupe model will feature a tweaked suspension and bigger brakes, along with a host of styling upgrades such as the M-branded alloy wheels, bumpers, side skirts, sport seats and steering wheel, and interior trim.
