In contrast to the photoshoped renders of the 2015 BMW M3 sedan we shared with you on Wednesday morning, these shots of the new M4 Coupe show the real car, albeit hidden under yards of camouflage.

BMW‘s high-performance model that will soon replace the M3 Coupe is scheduled for a summer 2014 launch, following the introductions of the plain 4-Series Coupe and Convertible as well as the M3 Sedan later this year.

If you’re a fan of the current E92 M3 Coupe’s aesthetics, then you’ll be happy to know that the M4 Coupe will sport a similar suit of cosmetic and aerodynamic enhancements ranging from the wider fenders and bulged hood, to the subtle boot lid spoiler, bespoke bumpers, and quad exhaust tips.

While not evident from these images, the M4 will boast a lightweight carbonfibre roof panel. This particular prototype was also fitted with gold brake calipers and the optional M Carbon Ceramic Brakes.

As with the M3, with which it shares its platform and drivetrain, the big news for the M4 is the retirement of the naturally-aspirated V8 and the introduction of a brand-new turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six with the same, if not more horses than the eight-cylinder unit.
