We would like to begin this piece by saying that everybody who uses a county’s public road system should pay attention at all times, and be aware of their surroundings, regardless of their ride of choice. Drivers of four wheel vehicles blame those who prefer two wheels (motorized or not) for not paying attention and being caught off guard, while the other camp redirects it back and a kind of vicious cycle is formed.

However, this latest story from the UK really gives car drivers a bad name, after a young woman from Norfolk used her Twitter account to post about how she hit a cyclist and knocked him down.

The driver in question, 21 year-old Emma Way, whose Twitter profile has since been deactivated, received a private message from the Norfolk police who summoned her to a local station to explain herself.

Cops using a social networking site to call somebody down to the station – well, that does sound amusing, still, it is no laughing matter, and Miss Way may be charged because one of the cyclists she hit, Toby Hockley, was reportedly injured. She will undoubtedly be very pleased Cyclist Detection systems become mainstream…
