A very sad event recently took place on one of the many bridges going across San Francisco bay. A young bride to be, Neriza Fojas from the Philippines, and her friends were crossing the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge in a rented limousine when a fire broke out in the rear part of the vehicle, which ended up killing the 31-year old and four of her friends.

They were heading to a party when apparently the limo’s air suspension system malfunctioned. According to a Reuters report, it “burst into flames when air springs in the rear of the vehicle somehow ruptured, setting off a chain of events that caused the fire.” In addition, it would seem as if the five women who died in the crash were trapped inside and couldn’t get out.

The case is currently being investigated. The owner of the limo rental service who was called on his phone and expressed his sincere regrets, will definitely have some explaining to do for not only the fire, but also the reason why the women weren’t able to jump out of the vehicle – it’s not like they were underwater and the pressure was too great to open the doors.
