Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Louts went into the motorcycle building business? If not, then you’re going to find out any way in a few weeks’ time, when they will be releasing the first photos of their first ever two-wheeled model, dubbed the C-01.

Built by the newly-established Lotus Motorcycles, the model “will be the most impressive appearance on public roads on two wheels. It will reflect a combination of lifestyle, design and high end technology.” Helping Lotus out in this latest endeavor are car designer Daniel Simon, who “is known for his clean and holistic concepts” and the Holzer Group from Germany.

The important part is that the bike will have around 200hp, and thanks to the design experience of Daniel Simon, it should also look pretty nice and modern, too. I mean there’s nothing wrong about wanting “to create a unique state-of-the-art machine that carries its brutal forces with elegance and style, a high-tech monster in a tailored suit. The C-01, with all its top notch components and materials, is first and foremost emotional, heartbreaking, at times playfully retro, and always clearly a Lotus,” as the company said in a statement.

It remains to be seen if outsourcing most of the work will cut it in the end, but if they get it right, we will be left with a powerful bike which promises to be good looking (especially in the teased naked-carbon and gold) and quite unique. At least Lotus is not making an SUV to diversify its lineup, like so many automakers have done or are in the process of doing.
