Drifting is a really spectacular display of vehicle control on the limit, especially when done by pros. In addition, the excitement and interest level for those watching definitely goes up the less likely they think the respective vehicle is to actually be slid around in a controlled fashion.

That’s why we know you’re going to love the video we’ve posted below, simply because there’s nothing not to like about a specially-tuned Freightliner semi-truck, which has been built for Pikes Peak and has over 2,000-horses for massive drifts around a skidpad.

It’s also got a cool name to match – the Banks Super-Turbo Freightliner.

Not only is it very powerful, and specifically built to go very fast at Pikes Peak, it’s also got the in your face looks to match – the comical RC car-like rear spoiler, as well as a exposed everything approach to showing the engine and some of the mechanicals, finish off the aggressive look in style – they may not have been aiming for it, but they put together one badass truck.

The motor powering it is quite special also, having been specifically built for this application by Banks Power, a company specializing in highly-tuned diesels, with almost 50 years’ experience in the field – it features both a turbocharger and a supercharger to achieve the stated power figure, and has no problem lighting up the rear tires, as you will see by scrolling down and clicking play.
