The SLS AMG is one of those classy and dare we say, sexy sports cars that never get old in terms of looks no matter how many years pass by. Nevertheless, since we live in an age of constant product introductions and improvements, Mercedes is going with the flow preparing what appears to be the SLS AMG GT’s first true cosmetic refresh.

We say that because two years after the original market launch of the SLS AMG in 2010, both the coupe and roadster models were updated and renamed to SLS AMG GT in 2012. Changes included a 20hp bump for the V8 that churns out 583hp (591PS), re-tuned suspension and transmission, the fitment of darker lights, and new trim bits inside and out, but nothing really new in terms of looks.

The prototype seen here had only its front end covered suggesting that Mercedes may concentrate the styling updates on the fascia, however, we wouldn’t dismiss a new treatment for the rear as this could be an early development car. Some updates may also be applied to the interior, but we won’t know for sure until we catch more prototypes on the road.
