The hill-climb course, which is the focal point of Goodwood Festival of Speed, this year celebrating its 20th anniversary, will get its own very accurate virtual recreation in the upcoming PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.

In fact, the track itself is actually done and already imported into the game, and developer Polyphony Digital Inc. has put together special demo versions of the game that will be available for playing at the venue that started today.

Those interested will be able to play the game “on PlayStation ‘race pods’ at The Goodwood Road Racing Club, The Family Area and Goodwood Hotel,” according to the event organizers, who added, “Nissan and Alfa Romeo will make the GT6 demo available on their stands while Mercedes-Benz, Ford and Nissan also have pods on their Moving Motor Show displays”.

If you get a chance to play the demo, you’ll have a shot of beating the current record for the 1.86 km (1.15-mile) course, of 41.6 seconds, set by F1 driver Nick Heidfeld in 1999.

We think it is an interesting addition to the track roster in GT6, and it’s the perfect way to race against your friends without needing an extra controller or split-screen – at under two minutes per run, nobody gets bored, everybody gets a go.
